Ena and Angus welcome you to the Isle of Skye and to our home, Willowbank.
Willowbank is an impressive property standing in its own grounds, with scenic views of the surrounding hills and sea lochs.
A full Scottish breakfast is served with a varied choice menu, including Highland black and white pudding and of course the traditional Scottish porridge, lightly smoked West Coast kippers (a fish dish) and the delicacy of home made marmalade.
Ena has been involved with the Tourist Industry over many years. In her previous home she received an accolade in 2003 from the "Best Bed and Breakfast Guide", compiled by the Consumers Association, as being one of the best ten Bed & Breakfasts in Scotland, commended by the Scottish Tourist Board. Ena is a Gaelic speaker, a lovely Gaelic singer and a wonderful cook.
Willowbank is within five minutes walk of Portree, a small town complete with its own traditional town square. Portree has a lovely harbour set in a picturesque bay overlooked by a row of multi-coloured West Highland houses. It has a wide choice of good restaurants, as there is throughout the island. Your host will be pleased to advise you on the establishments which provide your choice of food such as the Bosville Hotel and the Cuillin Hills Hotel.
Boating trips are always part of a seaside community and Portree certainly caters for this service, providing trips to the islands of Raasay and Rona and other scenic locations along the sea channel between Skye and Raasay. There are various attractions throughout the season, displays by the Portree Pipe Band, Highland Ceilidhs (traditional Highland concert), shows at the nearby Aros Experience, the annual Agricultural Show, and the August Highland Games.
Portree is an excellent centre for touring, and your host will be able to advise and direct you to areas of interest and scenic beauty. Skye is an ideal area for the hillwalker and mountaineer with the majestic Cuillin Hills as the main attraction along with the spectacular Trotternish Ridge. There are various boat trips throughout the island. One of the most pleasurable is the cruise from the village of Elgol to Loch Coruisk which takes you into the heart of the Cuillins.
We have wireless internet access.
The views from the house and garden are a special feature.
